After all, that’s the dream, right? Student visa in Australia then, permanent visa in Australia then its for you to decide if you wanted the next step—getting your Australian citizenship.
When I boarded the plane that brought me in the land down under I was excited and at the same time nervous, but whatever happens I have a determined mind that guides me that I will make it no matter what.
It was years of fighting, to never know what lies ahead and to battle that distance with the love ones you left home. It was worth every single commute, and every extra mile I have to walk just to secure a visa, which I can hold on to assure my stay in a country I have build, my future.
And if you choose Australia to build your future too then…
Hop on board.
Know What You Want

Julia (not her true name) flew to Australia with a student visa, she was enrolled in different types of short courses.
Processed her application with the help of an educational consultant, but there was no planning at all. When she realized with my helpful aunt that she was shooting nowhere, she changed her course.
She wasted 3 months just to figure out there was no point in getting a course that will never boost her application for a PR after.
Julia’s Goal was never clear, and neither the educational consultant who didn’t come to the place of really helping her realize what she wants.
So to get what you want, you have to know what you want.
You have to ask yourself first, “why do I want to study in Australia.”
With those answers, you could start formulating a path and strategies you can use to maximize your chance of hitting your goal.
Multiply your chance of getting that Permanent Residency in Australia

Choosing a course that the Australian workforce is in need of is one of the keys to multiplying your chance of getting that PR.
SOL was known to be STSOL now (short-term skilled occupation list)
The list will provide you with courses that are needed to support the countries labor force. The Australian government attracts many skilled workers all over the globe to fill their workforce. That is why if your course is listed here, you just made your chance bigger of getting that permanent residency soon
Doing what you love over loving what you do

My brother-in-law took up Electrical Engineering, and yes, it is in the list of skilled jobs, but as a student, you have to compete with many experienced and qualified engineers and locals. The competition is big.
Aside from the years that he will spend studying again for another 5 years is too much.
Although he chooses engineering because it is his first course in the Philippines its already game time, and at this point, time is more important than anything else, and he had to choose the best way for him to acquire a permanent resident soon since that is the GOAL.
He switched to nursing wherein me and my sister and my aunt could help him out in matters like recommendation and referrals — will talk about this one later on.
Now he is an Australian registered nurse, and I’m sure he now loves what he does. Not only he could provide for him and for his wife (my sister, who stays here with him), but they could now start building a future, restore dreams, send balikbayan boxes 🙂 and hopefully, get that permanent residency soon.
Sometimes it’s not about sticking to the things you love doing, but adapting to change and getting used to it. It’s still your choice if you want to pursue a career you love or an assurance to a career/life you can follow.
It really depends on you

Let’s be clear.
I am not telling you what course to take because it really depends on you.
You can pursue whatever course you want. You can follow what your heart dictates you or what you think is the best for you nobody owns your decision.
So if your ready let’s start processing your student visa in Australia.

Staying in a place/ vicinity where your family or friends are, can be a big help. They are the ones you can turn to when you need a hand.
But if you are the type of person that wants to be independent, then you can skip this one.
